Fort Canning Park

Imagine a place in Singapore where Malay royalty once ruled in medieval times, the British decided to surrender to the invading Japanese during the Second World War, and more recently, some of the world’s biggest music acts played to screaming audiences. This is Fort Canning. I discovered the park when I attended the e-education conference in September at the Hotel Fort Canning.

The paper I presented at the conference won an award for Best Research Paper!  YAY!!!!

What little I saw of the park intrigued me, so a few days later I went back to explore the area in more depth.
The park has an herb and spice garden which I found pretty interesting.  Like a community garden in a park setting.
These peppers look like they might be hot!
The park also has a pond that features colorful Koi swimming.

There are various works of art scattered among the park grounds.
The Fort Canning Centre (that is how center is spelled here -- British influence, you know) is a place where you can take lessons in a variety of art forms.
Just hanging around!

Of course, as with most green spaces in Singapore, you are only a short walk away from a workout area. Troy has been serving as my personal trainer and encourages me to find exercise in everyday activities.  SOoooo, here I am making good use of the park's exercise equipment.

This may look easy- peasy BUT, trust me,  it's NOT!

Never mind "Where's Waldo?"  Where am I in this photo?

The last time we went over to Fort Canning, a big concert was happening on the green called NEON LIGHTS. The music was loud and cost of entrance was outrageous! We walked in the direction AWAY from the music to try to find some solitude in nature.

Heading back to Troy's house.
